The List Rollup Web Part seeks out and consolidates SharePoint list items from across your site collection into a single, real-time data view you can filter and sort, or easily share with a wide variety of other Bamboo Web Parts. List Rollup collects data according to your specifications -- you can include or exclude individual lists and views, use CAML filtering, and assign a "master list" that the rolled up data should conform to, helping you ensure that the right data is included in your rollup. Once you've configured this data view, List Rollup takes care of the rest, updating in real time as source data is changed. You can even save your configuration settings as templates for use with additional rollups.

New! Version 4.0 adds easy to use filtering tools and export capabilities

The new 4.0 release of List Rollup makes it easier than ever to rollup only the data you want, and make your data views available to the entire site collection with the click of a button.

• The new Criteria Builder brings List Rollup's support for custom CAML filtering to the masses, by including a simple interface for creating your own custom filters that are automatically converted to CAML, and applied to your data view. You don't need to know a thing about CAML; simply select the list fields, operators, and values you want as your criteria from drop down menus, apply and/or logic, and the rest is taken care of automatically. No reference manuals or external applications needed.

• The new release also adds an Export Data function, which enables you to add any of your data views to the Web Part Gallery for the entire site collection. Now, your best, most effective rollups don't have to be re-created on multiple sites in order to access them -- simply export them, and make them immediately available on all sites in the collection.

I've got all this data in one place -- now what?

The ability to view aggregated data is plenty useful on its own, especially with List Rollup's filtering and sorting capabilities. How does it work?

The rolled up DataView Web Part is created in the Web Part Page Gallery for that page. You can navigate to the Web Part Page Gallery and drag and drop the DataView on this page to view the results. Once you have the DataView the way you want it and you are ready to share it with your users, you can Export it and save it to your desktop or any network location of your choosing. When you want to add the DataView Web Part to a page, just import the Web Part through Modify Shared Page > Add Web Parts > Import.

Why did we build it?

One of the major attractions of implementing SharePoint is the flexibility to create multiple sites and areas. This gives the IT department the ability to centrally control the server, databases and security, and at the same time allows each department or group the ability to manage their own sub-sites. As the usage of SharePoint increases, there is a proliferation of SharePoint sites to manage. This makes it harder for users to keep track of which tasks and documents are located in which sites because in SharePoint today, there is no easy way to see a unified view of such information.
